Kate Ngan Wa Ao is a native of Macao who is currently based in Poland. She has lived in Taiwan, the US, and various European countries. Her artworks are often inspired by different visual cultures, childhood memories, racial identities, and the complex issues of postcolonialism and irredentism in Macau. She frequently transforms and reworks archives, photographs, and everyday objects by combining different materials, and cultural symbols to uncover distinct qualities or intricate meanings in the process.
Her works have been showcased in various countries and cities, including Poland, Greece, Paris, Vienna, Slovakia, Taiwan, and Macau.
